  American fare on a French Language Menu. The food looks good, but for reviewer's and the restaurant to say it's authentic French is a stretch (and yes, I've been to France and have eaten at some of the best restaurants and bistros in Paris and in the French countryside). This is American fare on a French language menu with a few French items thrown in for good measure. Even the French items (like Beef Burgundy) have been Americanized into a pot-pie. While the filling of a pot-pie may very well be based on French cooking techniques, a pot-pie is quintessentially American. If they want to say they serve traditionally French food, then serve Beef Burgundy as they do in France, in a traditional Staub with a baguette on the side.

  One of my favorite places. Food is consistently amazing. Favorites are the cassoulet, the steak fritte, and the aubergine et fromage de chevre - an eggplant and cheese napoleon to die for. Service is always friendly and efficient and never snooty. Can't say enough nice things about Sophie's.
